Dr. Jessica Yamauchi is originally from Santa Clarita, California, and is currently residing in Boise, Idaho, with her husband and family.
She completed her Associates degree in Liberal Arts and Health Sciences at College of the Canyons, her Bachelors degree in Biology at California State University Northridge, and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree at Washington State University.
Dr. Yamauchi grew up loving her beloved dogs and cats, but was always fascinated by the wildlife in her childhood backyard. She entered the veterinary field at 17 years old, where she worked as a kennel assistant at an all-cat clinic. She was molded into a young professional by the mentors she met there and learned to have a healthy respect for the feline patients. As a young college student, she immersed herself in wildlife and ecological research, where she fell in love with field work, collaboration with scientific minds, and the close proximity she had with more obscure species. Once she entered vet school, Dr. Yamauchi continued with wildlife research, but she found great fulfillment in treating patients while developing client relationships.
After graduating and working in corporate medicine, Dr. Yamauchi is thrilled to join River City Veterinary Hospital as an associate veterinarian. She is eager to continue to treat pets with an emphasis on internal medicine, osteoarthritis management, and dentistry while building long-lasting client relationships.
When Dr. Yamauchi isn’t treating patients at work, she is spending time at home with her husband, Julio, her geriatric Cattle Dog mix, Clark, and her three cats, Garbanzo, Cashew, and Boba. She also enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, hiking, trying new restaurants with her husband, and will continue to work towards her dream of living on a small hobby farm.
